I was at a scale with my local day cab and a girl knocks on my window and says I’m from the department of taxation and finance I need to check your fuel ! She stuck a glass tube in my tank and pulled out a tube of green fuel took my information and said ok your all good ! It’s that easy to get busted !

In some states they take your fuel filter off and cut it in half because the filter is red inside

They pull your filter and cut it open with a tool the looks like a XXL can opener and the die is permanently stained to the filter medium. The truck next to you snitched and got a bounty.
