WHEN THE TRUCK STOP BATHROOM BECAME A MOVIE STUDIO
Well, folks, this is one of those stories that makes you wonder what the heck is in the water down in Florida.
On September 30, deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office were called to a truck stop on Park 78 Drive in North Fort Myers after somebody reported a man filming over the bathroom stalls in the men’s room.
Deputies found 58-year-old David Floyd in the parking lot and started looking into it. According to the sheriff’s office, they found a video on Floyd’s phone showing him completely naked inside a restroom stall, holding his phone both underneath and over the stall partition while recording a man in the neighboring stall.
And apparently, this wasn’t a one-and-done deal. Deputies said they found several other videos showing similar activity on the phone.
Then the inventory of Floyd’s belongings got even stranger. Investigators said he was carrying methamphetamine, a glass pipe, sex toys, and a mask with holes cut into it.
Floyd was arrested and charged with digital voyeurism, possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with evidence. Public booking information also lists a drug-equipment charge, although the sheriff’s public statement lists the three charges above. (Lee County Sheriff’s Office)
Floyd is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
