NATSO
The national trade association for truck stops, travel centers and transportation energy providers.
About NATSO and its industry role
NATSO represents truck stops, travel centers and off-highway transportation energy providers. Its official membership material describes service to this industry since 1960. The association brings operators, suppliers and other industry participants together through advocacy, education, business resources and networking.
For company drivers, NATSO is useful for understanding truck-stop operations, parking policy, driver amenities and the industry serving professional travelers. It does not operate every member location or provide a central reservation system. Direct a question about a specific stop’s parking, fuel bill or service to that operator.
Truck parking, advocacy and public information
The association participates in public-policy discussion affecting travel centers, transportation energy and truck parking. Its advocacy and news pages provide an industry perspective on legislation and regulatory issues. Use the publication date and linked primary material when researching a specific proposal.
NATSO’s public-affairs staff works on transportation policy, truck parking, safety and communications. Drivers and fleets documenting a recurring parking shortage can provide a clear corridor description and explain the practical problem. A policy contact should not be treated as a dispatcher or as proof of available parking at a particular location.
Research, education and the NATSO Foundation
The NATSO Foundation publishes education and research for the truck-stop and travel-center industry. Current public resources include professional-driver buying-behavior research, safety guidance, Stop Watch material, podcasts and toolkits. Some publications are sold separately, while access to others depends on membership or program participation.
The foundation’s safety guidance addresses operating practices and protecting customers and cargo. Its anti-human-trafficking initiative provides education for travel-center operators and staff. Use the official program page to confirm the current version, intended audience and availability of any toolkit.
Membership, suppliers and events
NATSO offers membership categories for truck-stop and travel-center operators, suppliers and associates. Associate categories include transportation businesses, developers and highway-service businesses. Contact membership staff to determine the appropriate category and current dues rather than use an older published rate.
The member portal includes a truck-stop member directory and a buyer’s guide with supplier contacts. NATSO Connect and other official events provide opportunities to learn about travel-center operations and meet industry participants. Confirm current event dates, registration terms and access requirements on NATSO’s website.
