Uline and McClain are the only 2 shippers I've been to that were anal about their seals. 98% of the rest of the time you could get away with never even putting the seals on since most of them just tell you to cut the seal yourself.

a few times I've managed to take those metal wire seals Amazon Freight Partner uses and literally just rip them off with my bare hands (in gloves). I'm still proud of this

I'd expect driving over the scales the wrong way, or road raging against another trucker, but taking other dudes seals? That's begging for a beating. I mean, if they were attached to the trailer, that could deny them the ability to unload, because there are a few places that are big on their high dollar loads being sealed, and that messes with their pay. Mess with their pay, they will be happy to get reimbursement from your hide.

I Had a shipper seal the trailer on drop+hook loads, ( SCHWANS ) in Minnesota, that saved my job , we were NOT allowed to break that seal, EVER!! when I got to the receiver the DAMN LOAD WAS ALL OVER INSIDE THE TRAILER, THE RECEIVER TRIED TO REFUSE THE LOAD!!! WRONG MOVE ON THERE PART, AS ALL IT TOOK WEAS A CALL TO SCHWANS HEADQUARTERS, AND THEY UNLOADED ME AND APOLIGISD TO ME, ( as the factory seal WAS UNBROKEN!!)

The triggering on here is hilarious! Some shippers have a bucket full of seals just sitting right out because they use so many on a daily basis. Somewhere in their shipping offices are cases of hundreds more that they buy in bulk. They will hardly notice or be concerned with a handful of them missing.

I have always pulled my own flatbed trailers. I don’t do warehouses. When I arrive the consignee wants what’s on my trailer. No seal required. Apparently they didn’t need what you had. What does a seal do?

Well if the seal number does not match the BOL …. then yes they will and have full authority to deny that load and send you back where you came from ….. I have had that done to me before…. as long as you have the original seal.
