I got started in Trucking at 14 years old. Spotting Trailers, and Trucks on the Yard. At 16 I was picking up and Making Deliveries around town. At 18 I was Running Loads Statewide. At 21 I was told by Dad to Go Drive For another Company for 5 years, then come back for a OTR job with his company. Fast Forward to 1991. He sells me 49% of the Company. In 2002 I inherited the Full Ownership of the Company. Coming this July 2025. I will retire, and close the doors. Unless one or some of my Drivers want to buy the Company.
Not me.. I left to get away from a deed that can never be forgotten in my city and well now im a trucker
FR
I started in 1976 after the army.
Worked for several different trucking companies for 6 years.
Then I purchased my own truck and never looked back. It has been a roller coaster ride. I always survived the ups and downs of the economy. My only regret is not having a financial plan for the end of my trucking career. Retired in 2023 January. Things have changed with trucking, which makes it very hard to make an above average living. But there are still some niche markets out there to do really well.
Do I miss it, yes the people that I worked with, the challenges of the job, the satisfaction of completing the job.
The Government regulations have largely taken any profits out of trucking. There is a limit on you're ability to produce a good living because of all the regulations.
But you get to drive long hood kenworths and peterbilt s and live in them thats 1😮 off our best benefits. Sign on the dotted line sucker oh I mean driver it's 20 percent of the gross
Best thing about trucking is that when you are having a bad day, you know that it can always get a lot worse 😂
When I started they claimed I would have a real good paycheck. I hauled logs for a year and a half hardly making any money lol
Yeah I'll take it 😂😂😂😂
