His kingpinl handle is pulled-out. The king pin locking bar looks correct, for being disconnected & ready to hook onto a trailer. He was not connected. Just the weight of his trailer kept it sitting on the 5th wheel's plate.
Didn't look broken. Looked extra greesy which will stop a holland from fully locking. Can tell if its fully locked by the pull handle of looking at the jaws. But I seen no defects.
Bunch of noobs on here commenting. 5th are designed to be super durable. Those jaws looked over greased and under maintained. No trailer slide marks. Looks like it was dropped right there.
No triangles or flares
Someone is losing their job im sure they can find that truck by using the trailer number to know who was driving that load. That's dangerous I had a scare with a trailer luckily it happened at a truck stop and not on the highway.

This is my one reason I don't like driving behind tractor trailers. I can not believe someone actually caught this on camera. Be careful out there.

I had a trailer drop on me. Fortunately, it was on a Love's parking lot at low speed.
The fifth wheel locking mechanism was either defective or broken. The very same issue happened to other Volvos in the fleet. Probably should have been a recall.

Right now he can't even hook up to his trailer because of the fifth wheel now if it was down on the street and that happened before I'd be like oh he didn't do his pre-trip the more you know

Time for the crank of shame
Well the handle is OUT. So I’m going to go ahead and say it’s not broken. Good thing that trailer was empty.
Crank it up and get out of there.DOT is going to have a field day, didn't do a very good pre trip.
I had that happen to me in a yard truck. The kid on the shift before me tried to hook up to a trailer with a king pin lock. He rammed it hard enough to smash it and a piece of metal lodged inside the fifth wheel mechanism. The punk did not report it.
I come in for my shift, did my pre-trip on the yard mule, including visual inspection of the fifth wheel jaws, all looked good. I pick up my first trailer, give it a tug, all is good. Put on the lines, lift it and as I pull out of the dock and turn the trailer came off. I almost caught it but it just slipped off the end of the rails.
Our shop disassembled the fifth wheel and found the piece of pin lock inside the mechanism. I was acquitted of a negligent drop.
Add a fifth wheel that would not unlock itself down in Miami if I never had one that the trailer that broke the lock in it
I notice that the road shows no signs of damage from the landing gear dragging on it.

The guy who pulled over and started filming left his truck right in the path of oncoming traffic with one lane closed
The fifth wheel doesn’t look broken, it looks like it’s closed… he didn’t do a visual check when he hooked to the trailer
