I saw a mile caravan of tanks and artillery go through my town, which is odd because I live nowhere near a base.

I seriously hope that some of these comments are just trolling.
This is just a simple training event, that happens all the time, all over the country.
Same things, when you see trains loaded with a lot of military equipment. Most of those are going to, or returning from, the National Training Center in Barstow CA -
They're getting fuel and playing soldier once a month.
