The main thing is for corporate to keep the total wage expense across the board as low as possible. Western takes newbies out of their own schools which tuitions come out of the rookies paychecks for the first year. Wages are as low as 1990s. Then they dispatch using electronic logs to flex as much work time as legal. This means 15 hour days on duty with eleven hours driving. Driver in video cannot afford to eat or sleep. He woke up at 3 AM in some God forsaken ghetto when his elog reset. He will not get a raise because of his poor safety record. He is always sick, low blood glucose and body pains because they will repair the trailer but not replace the shock absorbers. He/she is is in need of emotional support but has no home life and no medical visits. Driver keeps having little accidents due to stress of being a truck slave.
Talk to a Western Express Driver, ask them their cents per mile wage? -
