About ATLA

American Truckers’ Legal Association, or ATLA, was founded in 1987 to help professional drivers connect with CDL attorneys in the United States and Canada. It describes a network offering discounted flat-fee legal services for members.

ATLA states that it does not practice law. Legal representation is provided by attorneys in its network. Ask about the attorney, jurisdiction, scope of representation and applicable fees for a particular matter. Past results and promotional success figures do not guarantee an outcome.

Published services for professional drivers

The official service list includes moving violations in commercial and private vehicles, logbook and overweight matters, DOT and equipment tickets, license suspensions, accident cases and selected other legal problems. It also lists CSA/DAC disputes and assistance with certain civil, employment, immigration and criminal matters on a case-by-case basis.

Availability depends on the issue and the attorney handling it. Explain the type of matter and the relevant state or province when contacting ATLA. The website also identifies translation assistance in Spanish, Russian, Hindi/Punjabi and Korean; confirm availability for your specific request.

Free review and ticket submission

The official ticket-submission page offers a free review. Its form requests the violation, court date, a description of what happened and an optional copy of the ticket. The page also provides email, fax and mailing options for documents.

ATLA asks drivers to confirm that submitted documents were received and readable and to stay in contact about the case. Keep copies of the documents and ask the service or attorney about any date-sensitive next step. A review request should not be assumed to establish representation or resolve a deadline.

Membership and company programs

ATLA publishes standard and pre-existing-matter membership programs, along with company/group arrangements. The pre-existing program describes separate enrollment, membership, processing and attorney costs. Company offerings can include enrolled-driver groups or a driver pool.

Review the current written program information and ask which costs apply to your situation. Membership payments and attorney fees are different charges. Confirm coverage, exclusions, billing, cancellation instructions and any special promotion directly before enrolling. The website says cancellation is made in writing via fax or mail.

Verified phones, email, fax and mailing address

The mailing address is the association’s office correspondence address. Confirm delivery and document requirements with ATLA before sending case materials.

Resource directory and useful questions

ATLA’s public resource page includes links for weather, truck stops, load boards, scales, tax/accounting services, jobs, repair services and industry associations. Those external providers have their own services and terms. Check the destination’s current status and official contact information before using it.

Useful questions include whether a network attorney can handle the matter, what the total cost includes, how updates will be provided and what documents are needed. This profile describes the provider and its published services; case-specific legal guidance should come from the attorney handling the matter.
