National Operations Center of Excellence
Truck-parking research, transportation operations resources, webinars and professional contacts.
About NOCoE
The National Operations Center of Excellence, commonly called NOCoE, supports the transportation systems management and operations community. Launched in January 2015, it provides education, networking, case studies and knowledge sharing to help agencies improve transportation operations.
Its partner organizations include AASHTO, ITE, the Intelligent Transportation Society of America and the Federal Highway Administration. The center’s resources are particularly useful to state and local transportation staff, researchers, consultants, fleets and driver advocates interested in operational improvements.
What the truck-parking resource page provides
NOCoE’s truck-parking page collects activities and research from around the country. Listed topics include FHWA parking research, Jason’s Law survey material, truck-parking information-management systems, regional parking inventories and state resources. These links help readers locate planning work and understand approaches to the parking shortage.
The page includes the MAASTO-region Truck Parking Information Management System and describes participating Mid-America states. It also points to Illinois rest-area information and oversize/overweight routing resources. Follow the responsible agency’s current instructions when using a state system.
The collection contains documents and links published in different years. A historical proposal, inventory or app reference should not be treated as proof of a currently operating service. Check the underlying provider and publication date before using a linked item.
How drivers and fleets can use the information
Use this resource to research the wider parking problem, identify transportation-agency initiatives or gather context for a corridor discussion. It can be helpful when a fleet or driver group wants to explain why more safe parking or better parking information is needed.
For a specific overnight stop, obtain current access rules and availability from the facility operator or official state traveler-information service. NOCoE’s research directory does not make a reservation, dispatch roadside help or guarantee parking vacancies.
Operations education, webinars and case studies
NOCoE publishes case studies, professional resources and webinar information covering transportation operations. Its news and newsletter highlight events, research and training. The Road Weather Spotlight series is created by FHWA’s Road Weather Management Program and hosted by NOCoE.
These resources can explain how agencies use traffic information, work-zone strategies, weather tools and other operations approaches. Check whether a webinar listing is an upcoming event or a past recording. Technical training aimed at agency staff may offer useful background while requiring more detail than a driver needs for a routine trip decision.
