Now that I’ve seen this firsthand, it’s honestly heartbreaking. Dispatchers and companies sometimes seem careless about the quality of sleep and recovery time their drivers are actually getting.
It’s frustrating and scary to hear my boyfriend say that his body feels like it’s shutting down from exhaustion. There have been times when I’ve stayed on the phone with him just trying to keep him alert while he’s driving.
No delivery, load, route, or deadline should be worth someone’s life. Exhausted drivers aren’t only risking their own safety, they’re sharing the road with families, children, and everyone else.
Drivers deserve schedules that allow them to truly rest and recover, not just enough time on paper to technically meet the rules. I wish better working conditions, safer schedules, and more consideration for every driver out there. ❤️🙏🚛
