It's not illegal but it has something to do with driving in the mountains and the different air pressure or something

  2. @ThomasWalker-iy5fh Avatar

Only issue is if the air pressure is blocked by too much fuel as far as i know(drive petrol). If you're driving it already warmed up, and pressurized. Shouldn't the fuel pump work just fine, if not just drive a little, then re open the tank for a second right?

I have done it for 36 years, so what

  4. @kingcrusher5524 Avatar

Thats what its all about. If its illegal who cares lol "A Little Bubble And Pop" on the ground who cares. The five gallons makes a big difference.

  5. @chriswalker6776 Avatar

    When was that illegal?

  6. @TomLeonard-wi6ri Avatar

Driver you did the right thing get every extra mile fuel what you can I always did it

  7. @Robert-f3q Avatar

Its not illegal, but your only suppose to fill tanks 95% full.

  8. @sidneyvandykeii3169 Avatar

We have a fueling service to fill our trucks every night.
Local deliveries with Class B CDL.
Those tanks are never filled more than 3/4 of the way because the nozzle sticks so far into the tank. We have drivers that have to stop and fuel up during a 10 hour shift because the fuelers don't top off the tanks. It's quite annoying.

EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THAT'S ILLEGAL ?

  10. @atuck6082 Avatar

Is it illegal to fill a tank 100%? Yes under 49 CFR 393.67 but why?
Tanks are designed to not be able to fill past 95% and have had overfill collars sice the 70's. Air compresses, unlike fluids. Let's say you filled a tank 100%. The tanks are underground and cooler. The fuel tank on vehicles are not kept cool. Fluid expands when heated of course and screws your system if it's forced up through breathers, canisters, etc then can leak down and cause pollution.
Aside from that, diesel's flashpoint is around 125-190ish degrees with pressure. If it's able to build pressure due to a failure and the outside temp is high enough like an Arizona summer, you just created a 💣
To make tanks id 1 ot proof, they have anti-full fill collars and the fill port was moved off to the side so it's not all they way to the top. This preserves a 5-10% of tank capacity air pocket.

    Lol get a real truck!

  12. @Matt19385 Avatar

Actually if you read the fine print next to your hand. Idk if its a law but if anything happens im sure they can use that. Also only licensed drivers are allowed to pump gas

  13. @thud9797 Avatar

If I'm filling up and keeping moving Im topping off, if I'm filling up and then parking in the hot sun and shutting down I'll stay down a little from the top for expansion.

  14. @ratrod6161 Avatar

Always filled to the top unless you had to buy fuel in the next state you will going into and used to some red

  15. @jakobwheelhand9907 Avatar

Not illegal just not recommended I'll tell you a secret the little bit of extra year to get in there you should never realize that it's giving you any further cuz you should never run your truck lower than a quarter tank

  16. @kodiak880 Avatar

I do it every damn day. In the bush you never know when the next break down will happen and have to sit or a stop rolls in and yes again have to sit.

  17. @Kurbs-x8f Avatar

I do the same damn thing

  18. @davidcampbell8489 Avatar

Unless it's possible it put him over the scale weight for load & truck is the only way of any (( legal terms..
Filling a fuel cell or tank to fullest capacity has none legal bearings 😜

  19. @ronniehooperjr1 Avatar

I pack in as fuel as I possibly can. Get all that air out and keep filling.

So….. the FMCSA say if you top off your fuel tank and you drive off without letting the company dispensing the fuel to you know. That’s a class III misdemeanor. Reason being is because if you top off your fuel tank and the D.O.T. Finds out about it you could be fined or face criminal prosecution. A lady truck driver in Winter Spark, ILL topped off her fuel and law enforcement saw her they IMMEDIATELY arrested her for a violation of section 5 Paragraph D. Which states…….if you read all of this this far…..I completely wasted your time and you should have a little laugh to yourself

Company driver is so full of shit, next step is shitting in a bag.

  22. @royamberg9177 Avatar

the bung is not at top plenty of room for expansion

  23. @timkis64 Avatar

when there are laws about filling your tank, it means theres too much government intrusion.especially when most government officials ARE FULL OF SH•T.

  24. @seanbradley7711 Avatar

I do it every time I fill up it's called filling up not filling half way or 3/4 way 😊

  25. @Greasyfilms01 Avatar

    stupid clickbait…..i,ll block this channel

  26. @1SmokeyRider Avatar

I used to work with a guy like this. I’d fuel the truck up and then he’d go to the pump to put less than 10 more gallons on. OCD

  27. @jamesrankin9833 Avatar

    WTF are we talking about!?

  28. @blaineloustaunau5816 Avatar

I did every time I stopped for fuel!

  29. @PaulHarris-sl1ct Avatar

The extra 5 gallons will get you another mile down the road. Oh boy!

  30. @ats-3693 Avatar

Huh? It's illegal to fill your fuel tanks completely? That's news to me.
