When I learned to drive my driving instructor said keep your hands and your thumbs on the outside of the wheel just in case you have a accident because the steering wheels will spin but do whatever you want mate 👍

You wouldn't hold it like that if you learned on a classic truck. 62 Brockway, no power steering, a wheel almost a yard across. You can feel a leaf under the tires. You only get your thumbs almost ripped off once.

Lol, you're perfect. You're going straight. You only need to change when the road is windy.

I say everybody drives different and comfortable an I know that air seat is comfortable

As long as your truck doesn't have an airbag in the steering wheel, I don't see any issues with it. If you do have an airbag, you'll probably lose your thumbs if it ever deploys. Probably more of a passenger vehicle / light duty truck thing though.
