A truck won’t jump off the line like a dragster but all it has to do is bump you, trip you and you’re screwed. I learned that at the railroad as a conductor you can’t cross the tracks within I think 25 feet of stationary equipment and now I use the same idea around trucks now that I’m back in the trucking business I stay about 6 or 8 feet away especially if the engine is running

Both at fault. As a driver 21yrs i was always taught to look out the front windshield and side mirrors all over. Even tap the city horn before driving forward. Called common sense. Both lacked common sense here.

Eye contact with the operator is #1 rule but that looks more like a self offing

Eye contact and distance. When i cross the fuel line i walk 20ft in front of the trucks and make eye contact with drivers if the truck is running.

I would have acted like I didn't see it and just keep going
