About This Video

This trucking video focuses on rules to remember when hitching up to a new semi trailer. A trailer hookup is a routine part of trucking, but it is also a point where attention matters. Keeping the right reminders in mind can help drivers avoid mistakes while connecting to a trailer. The topic is relevant whether you are looking for a refresher or thinking through the care a hookup calls for. The emphasis here is on remembering the rules before getting connected, rather than treating every trailer hookup as something to rush through. For truck drivers, a clear reminder about hitching up can be worth keeping in mind whenever a new trailer is involved.

What Happened

The subject is a driver getting ready to hitch up to a new semi trailer and the rules to keep in mind during that task. The focus is on avoiding mistakes connected with the hookup. It is a practical trucking topic: the tractor and trailer need to be connected, and the driver is expected to remember the rules that apply to that process. The discussion stays centered on the hookup itself, rather than a road incident or a particular trip. The title presents the rules as reminders intended to help prevent errors. That makes this relevant to drivers who want to think carefully about connecting to a trailer, as well as people learning about everyday truck operations. The key point is to approach hitching up with the rules in mind, not to assume the task should be done without care.

My Take as a Company Driver

I think hitching up is one of those parts of the job where it makes sense to keep your head in it instead of letting routine take over. A new semi trailer is a good reason to pause and remember the rules you are supposed to follow. I would rather give the hookup my attention than treat it like something to rush through. The title's point is straightforward: remembering the rules can help you avoid mistakes. As a driver, I see that as a useful reminder to stay deliberate when getting connected. This is not about making the job sound complicated; it is about respecting a step that matters before you move on.

Truck drivers are literally the stupidest people on earth. This fool doesn't even know how to hook up his glad hands, and he has probably been doing it for years.

Blue goes to the blue towards passenger side red goes to red that os towards driver side it only changes if somebody screws up and crosses lines or glad hands its not hard to remember

It doesnt matter which one you connect first aslong as you stay color cowordinated. Only when the red knob is pushed in do the lines have pressurized air going through them.

This is funny I’m seeing this, had a newbie drive into our yard and it was his first time pulling a loaded reefer and was having trailer brake issues, dude had the air line reversed and then I said to myself how the fuck did he even get the chassis to move? Dude dragged it to the shop, flat spots on the tires and still left like that

  22. @matthew6202 Avatar

Until you run into a trailer that’s backwards. 😂😂. Can’t say always.

  23. @williamanderson3486 Avatar
