About This Video

This trucking topic centers on boredom, motivation, and how drivers are judged. Its framing resists reducing drivers to a label like “lazy” and opens a broader conversation about driver morale and engagement in the job. It focuses on how people talk about drivers rather than describing a specific driving incident or road event.

Key Takeaways

  • Avoid reducing driver motivation to a simple label.
  • Consider how the work experience can affect morale.

Im working on getting a CDL and i dont want to drive an automatic, i wish they didnt make them, all ive ever driven is manual and im sure i will be able to learn how to drive a non syncro trans, ive always felt like i have more control with a manual and i cant think of another vehicle that you would need the most control other than a race car, for differant reasons of course

It’s funny how truckers suddenly care about safety?!?

after they’ve killed millions of people. There’s literally lawyers whose entire practice is trucking injuries and deaths only.

I mean it’s legendary how much meth u people take and now you suddenly care about safety you ran fake logs. You did all this Shiesty ass shit for decades but suddenly you care about safety.??

    Call me skeptical

Cellphone users while driving,$350 fine and 2 demerits on your license therefore your insurance more expensive because you are liability and driving and using Cellphone is already punishable by law so STOP DOING IT specially Class A1 Commercial big rig and flip-flops make my blood boil. Now ask the MF to adjust slack on the brakes, they would be WHAT???

Not teaching enough also the manufacturers changing up the gear shifting makes a lot of people lazy not only that these truck driving schools are put in the wrong people behind the wheel you need to be putting people with common sense just because they can remember what they read and pass a test does not make them a safe driver

Once upon a pair of wheels…I hit the road and wasgooooonna what's my number I wonder how yer engines feel

  10. @joshriles84 Avatar

So do manual guys just shift up and down all the time on the highway

  11. @Mr.Mayhem Avatar

My fleet has a handful of manuals. I'm glad my governed truck is one of them. At least I have the ability to downshift for hills. When they buy me a new truck, I doubt it'll be a manual. They're already riding me about fuel milage and telling me they want to put me in a deadpedal truck.

They couldn’t find enough drivers that had an IQ above seventy that could figure out how to drive a standard transmission truck without destroying the drivetrain so they switched to automatic transmissions instead . Now these same lower IQ drivers with flip flops are behind the wheel killing and destroying property at record speed .

This is one reason they did the EZ.Pass overhead camera jenks. To ease traffic, but also to catch truckers on their phones. Its literally reason #2 for the EZP lane cams

And those feet are all bare, the slides are on the floor

30yrd driving. Drove a twin stick, 10, 18 even an old 8 speed. Last 6yrs it's been an automatic. Never once was bored. I find I pay MORE attention driving the auto. Not to mention the auto gets 1.5mpg more than the SAME manual.

  20. @johnlennon8653 Avatar

Learned on a 5×4, double clutching. Nearly 50 years later, you give me an automatic, that’s the day I quit. For me, it’s shifting gears, steel toed boots and a hard hat not flip flops, a towel on my head and driving like it’s a video game.

It is still important to know the RPMs and gears

I drive an automatic Cascadia and I'm never bored, I'm always able to enjoy watching some chaotic road entertainment.

Yeah, right. He's been driving for fifty years. Apparently he got his c. D. L when he was ten years old..

  26. @NiftyGamingTV Avatar

Being on the phone is a generation thing, the addiction is real for the younger generations

  28. @daveshelton365 Avatar

Can't blame stupid on the equipment.

  29. @michelleroy9642 Avatar

When i was training drivers i locked their phone up while they were driving! I drove for 10 years.

  30. @angiegreen9696 Avatar

He started in preschool didn't he 😂 he can't be over 60

  31. @ehaywood69 Avatar

Well, in defense of the manufacturer and trucking companies, the average driver does not know how to handle a manual. This new generation destroy manuals. Women do not think very quickly in a manual. Even though they are the safest truck drivers on the road But handling a manual is not their forte.

  32. @MissB1374 Avatar

They also lowered the legal age. They barely know how to drive a 4 wheels. How can they handle 18 wheels maturely?
