As a truck driver your supposed to look before you connect and if shits not right you decline that trailor. Don't haul shady shitty work. If it doesn't smell right don't lick it.

Id say it was converted. My old boss use to have 53' footers converted to 48' footers because it was cheaper than buying or finding another 48' they just cut the tail end off and reattach
